Just One More Round: A Pool Party With Our Favorite People

by MaoJie 30 Oct 2026 0 comments

A fictional summer story from the emoswimsuits journal.

The group chat said, “A quiet afternoon by the pool.”

By two o'clock, someone had brought a giant inflatable pineapple, Mia had declared herself referee, and six grown adults were arguing about whether a beach ball touching a floating drink holder counted as a point.

Nobody remembered agreeing to rules. Everyone had opinions.

On the lawn, a cooler clicked open. A summer playlist drifted through the garden. From the kitchen doorway, Sophie held up a bowl of marinated vegetables.

“Are we eating today, or are you all going professional?”

“One more round!” five voices shouted back.

1. The Dress Code Was “Ready to Get Splashed”

They arrived in stages, carrying towels, picnic bags, and the optimistic belief that someone else had remembered the tongs.

Mia wore a navy one-piece beneath an oversized shirt. Sophie chose a bright printed two-piece with linen shorts. Anna arrived in green, with sunglasses large enough to hide how early she had woken up to make potato salad.

There was no matching theme and no competition for the best entrance. Shirts went over chair backs. Sandals gathered by the door. Someone handed out cold water while everyone caught up on the week.

Mia had spent longer choosing her swimsuit than choosing the playlist. In the end, she picked the one that felt comfortable when she stretched and moved. The playlist, unfortunately, still included the song everyone had begged her to retire last summer.朋友们抵达泳池派对

2. A Beach Ball, Two Teams, and Questionable Refereeing

Their first game was simple: keep a beach ball in the air while standing in the shallow end. Each team got three touches before passing it across.

That was the entire explanation. It still took ten minutes.

“Was that two touches or three?” asked Anna.

“Two and a half,” said Ben.

“That's not a number in this game.”

The ball bobbed toward Mia. She reached, missed, and sent a sheet of water directly at her own teammate.

There was a stunned pause. Then everyone laughed so hard that the ball floated away, entirely unbothered by the score.

They kept the games gentle, gave each other space, and took breaks whenever someone wanted one. The only thing anyone took seriously was the right to dispute Mia's refereeing.朋友们在浅水区玩沙滩球

3. The Pineapple Had No Team Loyalty

Next came floating ring toss. A small floating target drifted across the water while everyone tried to land lightweight rings over it.

Sophie lined up her shot with the concentration of someone attempting a world record. Just as she threw, the inflatable pineapple wandered between her and the target.

“Interference!”

“It's a fruit,” Ben said. “It doesn't understand the rules.”

Anna, who had been insisting she was “just watching,” landed the next ring perfectly. She raised both arms, accepted a round of applause, and immediately announced her retirement.

For a while, nobody checked a phone. There were too many small things to miss: a ridiculous victory dance, an accidental splash, a friend laughing with their whole face.泳池套圈游戏与菠萝泳圈

4. Follow the Smell of the Barbecue

Eventually, the smell of grilled corn achieved what no referee could. Everyone climbed out using the steps, dried off, and wandered toward the lawn.

The barbecue stood on a clear paved area away from the games. Sophie slipped on a dry shirt before taking over at the grill, where vegetable skewers and burgers were already sizzling.

“Who brought the tongs?” she asked.

Six people looked at one another.

Then Anna reached into her picnic bag and produced a pair.

“Potato salad,” she said. “Tongs. Ring-toss champion. You're welcome.”

They ate in the shade on mismatched blankets, balancing plates on their knees. Corn required extra napkins. Someone had sliced far too much watermelon. Everyone said they were full, then reached for another piece.朋友们在泳池旁的草地享用烧烤

5. The Lawn Games Were Not More Organized

After lunch, the afternoon slowed down. Some friends stretched out in the shade. Others set up a beanbag toss on the dry grass, safely away from the pool and barbecue.

Ben insisted the distance between the boards was wrong. Mia suggested he move closer until his confidence returned.

A breeze lifted the corners of the blankets. Empty plates made their way back to the table. Someone turned the music up just enough for Anna to recognize the opening notes of her favorite song.

She pulled Sophie up from the blanket. Their dance lasted approximately twenty seconds before they forgot the steps and dissolved into laughter.

Nobody asked them to start again for the camera.朋友们在草地玩游戏和跳舞

6. Nobody Wanted to Be the First to Leave

By early evening, the garden was full of little signs that people had enjoyed themselves: folded towels, a bowl with one lonely watermelon slice, and a pineapple float resting against a chair.夕阳下朋友们整理物品并聊天

They collected plates, gathered the games, and tried to settle the afternoon's final score.

“We won,” Mia said.

“You changed teams halfway through.”

“A strong strategic decision.”

The goodbyes took longer than the cleanup. Plans for the next gathering began before anyone reached the gate.

This is the summer mood behind this emoswimsuits journal story: swimwear as part of the day, not the whole point of it. A comfortable fit, a favorite color, and room to enjoy the people around you.

Later, the group chat lit up with a photograph of the inflatable pineapple.

Underneath, Anna had written: Same time next weekend? The referee is under review.
